Graduate Certification in Christian Counseling

ABOUT THE CERTIFICATION

The Graduate Certification in Christian Counseling is designed for all who have an interest in learning how to counsel those who are facing serious life-altering crises, pain, suffering, death, dying, losses, and all other aspects of the “human condition” that are so challenging to navigate.


Students will learn how to do Christian Counseling using Scripture, Psychology, and Clinical Interventions that are appropriate. Church leaders will gain confidence in counseling the various specific areas that spiritual leaders are often called upon to perform. Chaplains, hospice caregivers, hospital caregivers, youth ministers, associate ministers, family life ministers, marriage and family therapists, clinical counselors, and all others who are interested in spiritual Counseling are welcome to apply to this program.


This Certification is an 18-hour "stand-alone" credential.


 COURSES

  • Take 6-courses from the following list for Certification
  • The program can be completed in one calendar year
  • Students who complete this Certification will be presented upon graduation


REQUIRED CORE COURSES (18-HOURS)

  • COU 5901 Biblical Anthropology and Counseling
  • COU 5902 Introduction to Christian Counseling
  • COU 5903 Understanding Mental Illness and DSM-5
  • COU 6901 Marriage and Family Counseling 
  • COU 6902 Dying, Death, and Grief Counseling
  • COU 6903 Domestic Abuse and Violence Counseling
